Friend,
I just returned from Jakarta from an inspirational event where we celebrated the power of storytelling for impact. There were journalists, a documentary filmmaker, government and nonprofit leaders, and winners of a writing competition. Here are two changemakers inspiring many people on AtmaGo:
- Sri is the head of LGPP Jember, a civil society organization that has been fighting for women’s rights and empowerment. She wrote an excellent article about establishing a school for women to be independent.
- Another writer, Melynda, a college student, wrote about a fisherman who has been worked tirelessly on environmental preservation in East Java. He helped to transform his village into an ecotourism area as a result of his leadership to restore mangroves. And the ecotourism is generating additional income for locals who previously depended solely on fishing activities.
We are proud that the AtmaGo platform gives people a way to share their voices, their brilliance, and their ingenuity. We train women and vulnerable communities to share their voices through citizen journalism. And, through our platform, they connect with each other and take collective action to improve their communities.
When you support Atma, you are supporting people who are gathering with their neighbors, taking collective action, and sharing their stories of how to make change. These are people who are changing the world, one connection, one event, and one story at a time.
Atma empowers people, often those in ignored communities, whether in Indonesia, Puerto Rico and now Ukraine, with tools and skills to support one another and improve lives.
While I was in Indonesia there were a series of earthquakes. AtmaGo delivered early warnings directly to people’s mobile phones, and people shared over 120 posts about it on AtmaGo in the days following the first incident. People were helping each other to find needed services, and shared photos of the situation and needs on the ground.
EMPOWER MORE PEOPLE
We would love to have your support for Atma Connect, as we build systems that allow people to be co-creators of a better future. The people on the front lines of climate-fueled disasters need the tools, power, and ability to create solutions for climate and community. And, AtmaGo has been that tool. With your support, Atma will empower even more people.
We believe everyone can be a co-creator of a better world.
Your donation today helps make that transformation possible!
